優曇華

梵文優曇波羅（Udumbara），

亦作優曇婆羅、烏曇跋羅、優曇缽華、烏曇華等，

意譯靈瑞、瑞應。花名。

產於喜瑪拉雅山麓及德干高原、錫蘭等處。

花隱於壺狀凹陷之花托中，常誤以為隱花植物。

世稱其花三千年一開，

值輪王及佛出世方現，喻極 為難得的不世出之物。

佛經中常用以喻佛、佛法之難得，如《法華經·方便品》云：

「如是妙法，諸佛如來，時乃說之，如優曇缽華，時一現耳。」

「曇花一現」的 成語，即源出於此。
